      The Americans and Europeans in particular should be reminded that they are no longer even close to being the sole players in science, culture and technology. Indeed they appear to be losing even their primacy in the quantity and significance of their contributions in these areas. Locking out free transfer of information (including demanding ridiculously inflated prices for professional literature and cultural products) will eventually isolate them from the mainstream of global scientific and cultural developments.
