Icelandic Pirates: PPIS Vote to Leave PPI and Birgitta only Politician to increase in Trust

Following the Pirate Parties of Australia and the United Kingdom, the Pirate Party of Iceland overwhelmingly voted to leave Pirate Parties International. Arnaldur Sigurðarson, member of the Pirate executive council, told the Pirate Times that the vote was 96.56% in favour of leaving. He added:

“PPI has been pretty much useless when it comes to its objectives which should be to encourage international cooperation between Pirate Parties.”

In other news from Iceland, the seemingly endless row of polls continues with the trust level of leading politicians in the country being the subject of the survey conducted by Market and Media Research. The subjects of the polls are in all areas of politics and include the President and City Mayors as well as leading MPs. The leaders of the government coalition are in steep decline whereas Pirate Captain Birgitta Jónsdóttir was the only politician to see an increase of trust by the people of Iceland, from 23.3% to 32.3%. Core Policies now in English

As a bonus the Icelandic Pirates have published their core policies in English which makes reading and comparing policies with other Pirates much easier than relying on machine translations. The document is on their website.

  “The icelandic Pirates were lied to by the Icelandic pirates so they’d leave, and they never gave the PPI board a chance to lie to them in favor of staying, so it wasn’t a vvalid vote, and they won’t accept it, because you have to let the Germans talk because ‘fairness’ or something, and did we mention they lied about it, and they’re splitters, and PPI Board not speaking, and OOH! and they’re the reason PPI hasn’t done anything, because they’re so negative, and did we mention all the good we do at PPI, like the 4 paragraphs we submitted to some conference when we were on holiday, and it got us the comedy relief slot on their highlights video, and ok that was 18 months ago, but we’re vital and essential, and we’d ahve done more, but we’re so busy trying to find places to talk at, and requesting to speak at these deliberations about how important PPI is, to actually do any of that boring ‘work’ stuff, and er, yeah…
