The Belgian Pirate Party between Sadness and Happiness

Croatian Pirates at the Gates of European Parliament
Are we going to be celebrating the entry of an additional Pirate MEP in the European Parliament? The answer lies in the hands of Croatian citizens and we will find out on 14 April 2013, when their first, historic EU election will be held in their country. Polls in Croatia have shown that “Piratska Stranka” (PPHR) attracts 6.4% of the voters (surpassing the limit of 5%), more than enough to elect a MEP!
Mumble – The English Speaking Salon

Restructuring the Belgian Pirate Party
On Saturday 22 December 2012 members of the Belgian Pirate Party met up for an extraordinary general assembly (EGA). This gathering was held in the Wallonian student city of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve. This location was a symbolic choice, during the communal elections of 14 October the party reached 5.16%, its best result ever. Only 14 votes shy of our first city councillor.

The Belgians are pleased with the result from the elections. They got between 0.5% and 5.16% of the votes in the regional elections. In the region of ‘Ottignies-Louvain-le-Neuve’ they were 14 votes short of gaining a seat in the city council.
