Pirate Party Australia Raises Funds Playing Counterstrike
During the last Canning By-election the Pirate Party Australia (PPAU) was challenged to a Counter-Strike Global Offensive tournament. The challenge came from a sub-forum to Reddit called Circlejerk Australia and was intended as a way to give PPAU an opportunity to raise funds. However the Pirates were too busy campaigning to take them up on the challenge during the elections and planning for the challenge took place recently instead.
The funds were raised through crowdfunding at pozible until the end of the year. 11 supporters contributed ~400 Euros and surpassed the 329 Euro goal. Live-streaming of the event is being planned but no date has been set yet.
The winner of the Counterstrike tournament will get the funds. Thus they will be used for political campaigning if the Pirate Party wins. If Circlejerk Australia wins they have decided to give it to a charity organization called the Fred Hollows Foundation that helps blind people.
