This is the case in Israel but only one, הפיראטים, managed to register and take part in the elections held on 22 January 2013. They did not reach the hoped for 2% hurdle that would bring them a place  in the 120 seat Knesset but with, at the time of writing, 2,408 votes and so 0.07% of the votes they have a respectable result for a party of  about 300 members. UK Pirates Get a Good Result in Manchester By-Election November 18, 2012 · by Andrew Reitemeyer · in Election The United Kingdom Pirate Party had a good result in the recent by-election held on 15 November 2012 in the city of Manchester. The seat in Manchester Central was left vacant after the sitting Member of Parliament, Tony Lloyd of the Labour Party, resigned to become Police and Crime Commissioner for the city. In the “first past the post” electoral system, currently in use in the UK, the safe Labour seat was won by the labour candidate Lucy Powell. But what of the other Nordic countries? It looks like Finland will be making the headlines in the coming days. The Finnish Pirates are fielding  121 candidates in 21 different municipalities in the municipal elections that are being held on Sunday 28 October 2012.
